For weeks, the Odoo community has been looking forward to the Odoo Experience 2022. No wonder, since due to Corona they had to do without a direct exchange with the developers and members of the community for two years. The wait is now over – with the release of Odoo 16 the Odoo Experience 2022 promises highly interesting innovations.

A must for Odoo practitioners: Odoo Experience 2022 from October 12 to 14, 2022

After a two-year break, it’s finally that time again: for three days, the Odoo fan community will flock to the Belgian capital. Brussels has always been the mecca of Odoo users and offers you the opportunity to exchange ideas with Odoo staff, partners and customers. The location of the Odoo Experience has been carefully chosen by the Belgian developers: The event will take place at the Brussels Expo – directly opposite the famous Atomium.

The Odoo Experience allows you to get a comprehensive overview of the power and flexibility of the CRM/ERP system. You have the chance to participate in live demos and in well over 200 talks. Most of the presentations focus on concrete solutions to problems. Nowhere will you find more compiled Odoo know-how than at the Odoo Experience. You’ll hear first-hand about the solutions Odoo, its partners and community members are working on.

Where people work hard, they should also have a good time – one of the slogans of the Odoo Experience. Therefore, food and beverages for the participants and an entertaining social program will be provided as well.

The highlight of the Odoo Experience 2022: Release of Odoo 16

It is already a tradition that Odoo releases a new version every year. At Odoo Experience 2022, it will be that time again: on October 12, Fabien Pinckaers, CEO and founder of Odoo SA, will open the event with the keynote “Unveiling Odoo 16”. The participants will learn first-hand about what the new version has to offer.

Back in March of this year, Pinckaers announced at the Leadership Meeting what new features Odoo 16 will offer. According to this, the priorities are clearly defined. The focus is on code cleanups, performance optimizations, adjustments to the user experience, and the development of new functions.

From what we know so far, Odoo will get a new Knowledge app that offers wiki-like features and integrates with all Odoo apps. Website developers will be happy: the Website Builder backend and frontend will merge. They will presumably be bundled into a single view. The advantage is obvious: The development process is simplified by the parallel view.

Odoo 16 will probably allow the use of coupons and promotions in all apps. The subscription app will be merged with the sales module and the chatbot will probably support multi-choice questions and decision trees.

The accounting module promises a number of new features and improvements:

  • New bank reconciliation: multi-currency reconciliation and simplified accounting imports.
  • Audit reports: improved readability and VAT-related information.
  • Asset improvements: easier cancellation, better UX, accurate calculations.
  • Credit limit: warning in sales and invoice.
  • OCR: Separate settings for customer invoice.
  • Intra-statistics reports.

Inventory functions are also likely to increase in Odoo. With Odoo 16 you can expect the following functions:

  • Force redelivery.
  • Improved shipping methods.
  • Automated batches.
  • Support for GS1 labels.
  • Visibility days for replenishment.
  • Package scanning.

The purchasing module is said to offer a revised tendering function, to show the receipt and delivery status in purchase orders (PO) and sales orders (SO), to provide transport insurance, and to be able to generate commercial invoices.

In addition to these extensive adjustments, Odoo 16 will probably come up with further fine-tuning. The appointment app will offer a new backend and a new front-end design. Email marketing is simplified by the fact that new mailing templates can be generated from existing ones. E-learning will benefit from new Vimeo support.

Process mapping benefits from enhanced approval features; in Odoo 16, you can define the order of approvers. There are also changes in HR: In Odoo 16, for example, you can create reports on the skills of employees.

In Material Requirements Planning (MRP), manufacturing orders can be split and merged. Furthermore, allocation reports for manufacturing become possible and a portal for subcontractors is available.

The Odoo developers are also adding new integration options to the new version, such as new interfaces to payment providers and eIDAS integration.

This list shows where the journey is heading: Odoo is becoming more and more powerful and therefore interesting for more and more small and medium-sized companies.
