The challenge – dated manufacturing systems not up to par with industry standards

Our customer selected Odoo to replace outdated systems that were preventing the centralization and standardization of manufacturing processes. Our customer lacked a sustainable manufacturing process and was unable to meet ISO 9100 requirements as a result of missing or disconnected systems. Their goal was not only to close a large gap between software and hardware management, but also to fully encapsulate disjointed systems into Odoo as a single-source-of-truth.


Our customer required practical solutions to deal with the following urgent challenges:

  • Software and Hardware Integration Gap: Our customer struggled with integrating their machines with an ERP system. This hindered their manufacturing processes, from production working time to quality measuring.
  • Outdated Systems & Processes: Our customer relied on legacy systems which restricted their capacity to comply with necessary industry requirements such as ISO 9100. Their struggle to centralize processes in one environment further reduced operational efficiency and compliance certification tracking.
  • Operational-Financial Disconnection: Our customer relied on separate systems to manage their financial and operational processes. As a result of this decentralization, our customer was unable to efficiently execute their manufacturing operations from start to finish.


ISO 9100 Compliance and ERP

  • ISO 9100 is an international standard specifically designed for the aerospace industry, outlining the requirements for a quality management system (QMS). International standards of this nature are critical for businesses of all sizes, as they help instill consumer confidence, ensure compliance with regulatory demands, and provide credible access to global markets.
  • To achieve ISO 9100 compliance, organizations are mandated to document their processes, establish clear quality objectives, monitor performance, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • As both ERP and ISO 9100 are centered around process documentation and system thinking, it is highly beneficial to jointly implement them and tailor ERP processes accordingly.

The solution – modernizing and regulating manufacturing with Odoo 15

We made the most of Odoo to help our customer reconnect their disjointed processes and consequently achieve full ISO 9100 compliance. Odoo functionalities allowed us to tackle their challenges such as revamping production processes, and subsequently helping them sustainably manage their newly-modernized manufacturing operations.

  • PCB Interface Implementation: We developed an efficient interface specifically tailored for Printed Circuit Board (PCB) handling, enabling our customer with oversight of consumption, working times, and quality results across their manufacturing operations
  • Supplier & Vendor Compliance Modul: We enabled our customer with a module that would ensure that vendors and suppliers were ISO 9100 compliant. This allowed our customer to manage each contact’s compliance certificates. They were further able to assign specific compliance certification levels to both contacts and products. This ensured that our customer’s components could only be acquired from certified vendors or suppliers and that the associated processes were successfully documented, thus meeting all ISO standards.
  • Multi-Level Manufacturing Introduction: To accommodate our customer’s complex manufacturing needs, we established a multi-level manufacturing approach with flexible Bills of Materials (BoMs) to streamline the entirety of their production processes.

Seamless Odoo integrations with 3rd-party systems

Considering our customer’s reliance on existing software, we seamlessly integrated their former systems with Odoo:

  • MES-PCB Interface: We helped our customer integrate their MES-PCB interface within Odoo. The interface allows our customer to link their MES (Manufacturing Execution System) software and the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) manufacturing processes. This enabled seamless communication between systems, thus leading to greater efficiency in our customer’s manufacturing operations.

The result – automated, ISO compliant multi-level manufacturing 

Our client saw immediate results as they integrated Odoo in their daily operations:

  • Streamlined Production Processes: We helped our customer achieve a significant improvement in production stability through the implementation of functional End2End processes. This resulted in reduced disruptions and increased overall efficiency in their manufacturing operations.
  • Enhanced Inventory Control: Our client made the most of Odoo to optimize their inventory management for both efficiency and compliance purposes. The module that was established to ensure compliance with strict quality requirements (ISO 9100) boosted revision control handling and effective management of obsolete manufactured components. It further guaranteed that our customer was able to securely acquire components exclusively from certified vendors/suppliers, thus meeting all stipulated international industry standards.
  • Finance-Operations Alignment: We helped our customer to successfully bridge the gap between finance and operations, resulting in a seamless connection between these critical functions. This allowed for better overview of cost efficiency when taking into consideration factors like consumption, working times, and quality tracking – now optimally monitored via customized interfaces.
