10 September 2026

Here are all the essential ERP and Odoo news of September that you should not miss.

News from Odoo HQ

Official updates and posts from Odoo’s headquarters, Odoo employees, and Odoo founder Fabien Pinckaers.

Highlights from all global Odoo Experience events so far

We gathered all the most exciting updates from all Odoo Experience (OXP) events across the world.

(Spoiler alert: Odoo AI is stealing the show!)

OXP-exclusive Odoo 20 sneak peeks

Though Odoo 20 will only be unveiled at the Belgian edition of Odoo Experience, other regions are still getting their fair share of feature reveals.

  • Skills are coming to Odoo AI: Although not many details have been shared so far, it’s been confirmed that users will be able to add Skills to their AI Agents in Odoo 20. As Odoo AI develops a more agentic layer, its native AI chat interface will include skill-building for image generation, web search, record updating and creating, and more

  • Odoo Website will receive an AI boost: In Odoo 20, users will simply use voice commands to generate entire web pages with AI. New fields and more extensive configurations will be added to web forms

  • Native Outlook & Gmail plugins: Odoo 20 will let users natively connect to Gmail and Outlook, where users will be able to create and view Odoo records directly from their connected mailbox.

OXP Americas promises a fully AI-native Odoo

It’s Odoo’s 20th anniversary, and the future is looking even more intelligent.

The keynote in San Francisco took a trip down memory lane and highlighted Odoo’s most innovative technical features over the two decades.

→ 2017: Odoo Studio

→ 2018: IoT box

→ 2019: Odoo suite expands

→ 2020: Odoo Spreadsheet

→ 2021: Generative AI

→ 2022: Performance

→ 2023: AI Website Builder

→ 2024: Frictionless commerce

→ 2025: AI Agents

→ 2026: AI-native Odoo

Odoo has been integrating generative AI capabilities into its framework for over 5 years, following earlier AI features like OCR and predictive analytics.

While tools like advanced AI Agents with skill building and a native MCP server might feel like a rapid breakthrough, an AI-native Odoo has been in development for years. Version 20 is just the landmark result.

On top of that, Odoo is bringing AI out of the ERP and into its events. Attendees at OXP Americas were able to create their own agenda with Odoo AI!

Odoo Experience Africa & LATAM exceeds its own goals

Out of 10K expected attendees, Odoo Experience LATAM beat those numbers by 4x, with over 40K registrations.

Odoo Experience Kenya was also a hit. The event initially predicted 10K participants. On the days of the event, the number nearly doubled to 18K total registrations from over 50 countries.

Expanding its flagship event to such a scale in one year may have been one of Odoo’s most ambitious goals for the community. Judging by how quickly the global Odoo Experience events were adopted, it’s surely paying off.

Odoo SH tightens server security with mandatory IP whitelisting

Odoo is strengthening security across Odoo.sh in response to rising automated attacks on internet-facing services. And from September 21, it will roll out new server-side firewall rules.

Once activated, all incoming SSH and PostgreSQL connections will be blocked by default unless the connecting IP address has been explicitly authorised.

Key details on how access will work under the new firewall:

  • Permanent access: Users can add up to 10 static IP addresses under the Firewall section in project settings

  • Temporary access: "Allow my IP" in a branch's SSH utility tab lets users authorise dynamic locations for one hour

  • Database restriction: The same rules apply automatically to all projects with direct PostgreSQL access enabled.

If you’re managing Odoo.sh deployments, be aware: updating CI/CD pipelines, deployment scripts, and team access rules before September 21 will be essential to avoid locked-out workflows.

Community talk

All the hot topics and discussions Odoo users are buzzing about this month.

Regional OXPs raise the Odoo hype, but big questions are still left unanswered

The global wave of Odoo Experience events has the community more excited than ever, especially with Odoo 20’s native MCP server and the promise of an AI-native ERP.

At the same time, LinkedIn threads following recent OXP events show there are still plenty of open questions floating around. Users are actively debating :

  • Not getting the full roadmap for Odoo 20
  • What’s coming in near-term release backlogs
  • Where pricing stands for the new light user mode
  • How these broader updates will impact Odoo.sh environments.

Without final details on v20 or pricing updates, some users who attended regional Odoo Experience events may be feeling in the dark. But they won't have to wait for long. Their questions will likely be answered in two weeks, on the main stage at OXP Europe in Belgium.
